Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Retail Fit Out - £25k - Northamptonshire. An opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual who is fairly new to the construction industry possessing at least a year’s experience to join a leading Retail Fit Out specialist as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in Northampton. The successful candidate will benefit from a structured training programme and the support of an experienced commercial team.

About the Role:

  • Attend project start up meetings and site visits
  • Produce enquiry schedules from tender documentation
  • Prepare sub contract packages
  • Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities for projects on estimating programme
  • Prepare commercial documents for handover to QS
  • Ensure tenders are submitted completely and accurately and within the time scale provided
  • Maintain appropriate supplier / subcontractor databases
  • Set a personal example with respect to good business practice
  • Positive promotion of the Company to their existing Clients, new Clients and potential Clients as well as peers within the construction industry
  • Any other responsibilities which we may reasonably ask you to undertake and which are appropriate to your position

About the Candidate:

  • Whilst no specific sector experience is required, a background in internal fit out will be advantageous.  A good understanding of excel spreadsheets would also be highly beneficial along with good arithmetical skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Project and Word
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings and architect’s plans and interpret their content and technical specification
  • Good communications skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Efficient and well organised
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role
  • A keen interest in the business
  • Must be able to commute into their office in Northampton
  • Must be UK based
