Design Technician (CAD) - Drylining - £20k to £24k - West Sussex. My client require a creative Design Technician who will join a top 5 Drylining Specialist Sub-contractor in the industry. The right candidate will be based at the office in West Sussex and you will work on prestigious Drylining/Ceiling contracts covering all industry sectors ranging in value from £750k – £10m. The candidate should have excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills and be capable of scheduling and managing their own time.

About the Role:

  • Responsible for providing support in drawing, logging and general administration of all design activities in line with outbound requirements for the production of interior and or exterior elements in tendering and construction
  • The Design Technician works to ensure information systems within the Design department serve the purposes of the design team and others, being up to date and recorded in the correct system
  • Working closely with relevant business units, the purpose of this role is to ensure designs are delivered on time
  • Provide support in preparing & updating relevant technical information as follows:
  • Drawings produced in AutoCAD format including revisions of existing drawings
  • Uploading, downloading, filing and printing of any documentation to ensure all data on file is most up to date
  • Liaising with manufacturers, suppliers and consultant for support information to enable continuous works to progress on site
  • Preparation of all design documentation for presentation to the client
  • Updating checklist / drawing log
  • Revising existing drawings
  • An understanding of design information, following set procedures to ensure accurate auditable records are kept and turnaround times through third parties (main contractor and manufacturers) are properly managed.  Awareness of quality control procedures and remain compliant with authorisation and approval processes both internally and externally
  • Assist with department target for setting standard details library up and running and complete
  • Upkeep of technical literature and manufacture literature
  • Scheduling up facades components
  • Develop an understanding on managing communication between Design and internal or external clients.  This will include learning project management systems via extranet as provided by main contractor, i.e. Asite, 4Projects, and Aconex, etc
  • Understand and adhere to departmental policies, practices, procedures and standards, whilst working in a timely, efficient and effective manner
  • Manage the process of internal systems for storage, reference and retrieval of design information
  • Engage in self-development, as per the performance management and development framework
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies, according to Company procedures
  • Uphold, safeguard and promote values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity, and corporate (social) responsibility

About the Candidate:

  • Fully conversant with AutoCAD
  • Efficient in the use of design software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Numerate and accurate with fanatical attention to detail
  • Logical and well organised with ability to prioritise
  • Self-motivated to lead and achieve the highest levels of excellence
  • Delivery focused with passion for results
  • Positive response to pressure
  • Previous experience working in Design for a construction company, or relevant manufacturer of construction products
  • Enjoys working with people from different professional and trade backgrounds
  • Willing and able to travel, when required

Essential & regulatory:

  • Relevant experience or training qualification in using CAD software
