Estimating Quantity Surveyor - Full Fit Out - £35k to £40k - Nottinghamshire. An excellent opportunity for an Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join a progressive Commercial Fit Out contractor based in the East Midlands who will take a pivotal role in managing the office team and working closely with the Director in driving the business forward.

About the Client:

A Commercial Design and Fit-Out company operating from an office in the East Midlands. They have nationwide coverage with projects which are predominantly high end Commercial Office Fit Outs for clients who work with them on a repeat basis. My client are a rapidly growing commercial design & fit-out company and due to expansion they are looking for an Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team.

About the Role:

  • To take overall responsibility for the cost & value of projects
  • Heading up the office team on behalf of the company Director
  • Preparation of tender packages , enquiries, analysis, negotiation, scope of works & levelling activities culminating in client recommendation & issue of award letter
  • Conducting measurements & calculations either on-site or from drawings resulting in accurate cost evaluations & associated reports
  • Negotiate valuations & final accounts for projects
  • Issuing & managing all internal PO’s issued to suppliers
  • Ensuring all costs are tracked & validated
  • Work closely with the Project Managers & Directors
  • Timely & accurate recording of information on internal databases

About the Candidate:

  • Ideally degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Membership of RICS or progressing application is highly desirable
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
  • Relevant experience in commercial fit-out industry is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal & written
  • Strong working knowledge of contract documents, construction practices & techniques
  • Ability to interpret & make calculations based on drawings
  • Flexible & professional approach to work
  • Self-motivated, confident & organised
  • Have a full driving license and be able to attend site visits, client meetings and planning meetings as required including overnight stays, occasional long journeys and evening planning committee meetings when workload dictates
  • Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office & Excel
