Mechanical Manager – M&E Contracting - £45k - £50k - Hertfordshire A well-established Mid-Size M&E Contractor are looking for a Mechanical-Biased manager to run a number of projects within the Residential/Social Housing sectors in the Northern Home Counties. The ideal candidate will have experience of running multiple projects within these sectors and have a Mechanical technical background. This is a senior position where the Mechanical Manager will have responsibility for planning their own day to ensure the smooth delivery of residential mechanical projects. Projects will be valued between £200k and £1m

A Mid-Size M&E Contractor who have an excellent reputation of engineering excellence particularly within the residential sector. They are based in the Northern Home Counties and work on schemes within Herts, Beds, Bucks, Essex and London. They have an exceptional training programme and actively encourage and support personal development

About the Role:

  • Ensure that adequate and appropriate materials, labour and subcontractors are in place to meet the build programme and project budgets
  • Supervise labour and maintain progress in line with the build programme
  • Manage the pre-ordering of materials to ensure timely delivery to site
  • Form relationships with the supply chain and the dedicated buyer for each project
  • Implement B&C procedures as laid out in the QMS
  • Provide monthly progress reports to line management and Directors
  • Manage quality assurance processes, including test and inspection
  • Manage plant on site whether it be company owned or hired, including regular safety inspections
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the project
  • Carry out an induction with all new labour including Health & Safety, payment and personnel elements
  • Monitor the invoices submitted to agree accuracy before submitting to the Directors
  • Form close working relationships with the Clients representatives at all levels
  • Attend Client meetings and provide when requested
  • Manage and monitor project budgets and P&L (jointly and severally with the commercial team)
  • Process the subcontractor pay run, including the pre-authorisation of installer invoices prior to Director sign-off (jointly and severally with the commercial team)
  • Ensure that any site instruction or variation requested at site is immediately referred to the project surveyor, prior to any work taking place
  • Agree monthly valuations

About the Candidate:

  • Mechanical Technical Background – Apprenticeship or relevant qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Previous experience within Residential/Social Housing Sector
