Senior Mechanical Estimator - M&E - £60k to £70k - Hertfordshire.

About the Client:

Our client a  leading  specialist  M&E  service  provider  working  for  tier  1  main contractors on a range of high profile projects within London. They currently have an opportunity for Senior Mechanical Estimator to work as part of a team on a permanent, basis working from our office based in Hertfordshire.

About the Role:

  • The  candidate  will  take  responsibility  for  all  mechanical  related  estimation  works  with  the support of an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator.
  • Responsible for gathering data required in preparing lump sum, unit rate and cost plus detailed  estimates.
  • Winning  and  tendering  desired  projects,  achieving  discounts  with  suppliers  and  subcontractors.
  • Send out enquiries and work closely with supply chain at tender stage to ensure correct and competitive prime costs.
  • Access initial tenders in respect of attractiveness, selectivity, commercial risk and completion and provide appropriate report to management.
  • Query  bid  documentation  as  may  be  required  to  clear  up  any  ambiguities,  errors,  and omissions in tender prior to tender closing.
  • Prepare tender adjudication pack ready for sign off with Pre-Construction Director.
  • Estimating, cost analysis and estimate co-ordination.
  • Prepare tender risk analysis and ensure tender submission is appropriately clarified.
  • Review of and development of discipline and multi-discipline material takeoffs.
  • Evaluation and/or development of construction labour rates  and evaluation of sub-contract cost estimates and proposals.
  • Review and analyse complex bills of materials, assess labour productivity and labour costs.
  • Review  of  process  designs  and  engineering  specifications  for  cost  effectiveness  and  suggestions for alternatives.
  • Provide a fully detailed tender based on a performance specification and services drawings.
  • Send out enquiries and work closely with supply chain at tender stage to ensure correct and competitive prime costs.
  • Experience within the Construction Industry is a necessity, M&E experience preferred
  • Five years or above of solid mechanical estimating experience
  • Experience of using the software programme ‘Estimation’  preferred but not crucial

About the Candidate:

  • The  Senior  Estimator will have the support of an  Assistant  Mechanical Estimator reporting directly to them.
  • There is also an Estimating Administrator within the department. The successful candidate will ensure they are able to support the business in a time of growth and  ensure  all  tenders  are  priced  fairly  and  accurately  to  enable  the  company  to  remain competitive within the market.
