Quantity Surveyor - Ceilings & Partitioning - £30k to £50k - Tyne & Wear. A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who has proven commercial delivery of Ceilings and Partitions contracts to join a reputable specialist contractor based in Newcastle.

About the Client:

A Newcastle based sub-contractor who specialise in all types of ceilings and partitions such as suspended ceilings, ceiling suspension systems, ceiling installations, wall partitions and office partitions and drylining. Turnover is around the £5m mark and they can confidently carry out projects from a few hundred pounds to in excess of £2m. 99% of the work they do is within the commercial sector covering Cinemas, Offices and various other projects. My client is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor in and around Tyne & Wear.

About the Role:

  • Preparation of project budgets, checking projects contracts, administering projects Contracts
  • Measurement of project to check quantities against tender allowances
  • Preparation of tender documents for any sub contract works and specialist suppliers
  • Set budgets for, and raise payments, for direct/subcontract labour; manage variations as they occur; producing fortnight cost reports to their clients
  • Ensure an awareness of their key responsibilities under the contract; ensure regular agreement of site instructions with the client.
  • Ensure payments are received on time in accordance with the contractual payment terms; ensure retention monies are released when due
  • Prepare and discuss the final account for projects.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts within the set parameters
  • Prepare monthly Cost Value Reports

About the Candidate:

  • Proven experience within a Quantity Surveying position within a Ceilings & Partitioning Sub-Contractor for at least 3 years
  • Commercially astute, numerate, risk averse & able to accurately forecast cost & sales
  • Multi-tasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Have good practical organisation skills, planning of resources and programme scheduling
  • Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current activities. Priorities and organise, taking a methodical approach
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic with a high standard of personal performance
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Present information clearly, concisely and professionally
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer focused
  • Communicator & motivator with ability to communicate across all levels of seniority from the workface through to Senior Management level
